Bed and Breakfast

On Wednesday I looked at the calendar and realized that our 6 month wedding anniversary was this weekend. Although a month ago I pulled the "honey, don't you worry I already have plans for the big 6 month festival of celebration", not quite here it was couple of days away and I got nothing. So with a very limited budget I had to do something to make it look as if I have it together. Well that was Wednesday and by Thursday at 4:30pm still nothing, so I scoured the web and found what seemed to be a reputable Bed and Breakfast in San Clemente called the Always Inn. At first I thought no way, I mean come on my parents frequent B-n-B establishments across the country And I was pretty sure that I wanted to go a different direction. The problem is I had no other direction to go. Reluctantly I gave in to the Always Inn. Let's face it convincing Natalie that I planned the B-n-B as a romantic quick get-a-way would be easy. On top of that not 30minutes after I booked it someone in the office confirmed my decision and spoke highly of the Always Inn. This was going to work out. For some reason I thought that icing on the cake would be to send flowers and put a little message on there as if this was a surprise all along. (worked like a charm) So Friday afternoon off we were to San Clemente. Our check-in was scheduled for 5:00 so I felt pretty confident as we pulled in at 5:03. Perfection, she is excited we're walking to the door, and she is thinking wow my husband thought all of this through. Then we ring the bell and knock on the door, nothing. We wait a bit and then call the number that is on the e-mail confirmation that thankfully I printed off. Voicemail, great what do we do now? Leave a brief message and go get dinner. By 6:00 no call back so we went by the B-n-B nothing. We shopped on Del Mar till 7:00 still nobody at the B-n-B and no call. With no choice we moved on and found a new place to stay. Around 7:45 the owner of the Always Inn called but we were over it. Needless to say this episode did not increase my Love of the B-n-B, and I cannot in good faith recommend the Always Inn. In fact I think it is time for a change of name.
